
Caner Akgün
Caner Akgün is a prominent Turkish baritone and the director of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB). Born in 1981 in Zonguldak, he grew up in a family with a rich educational background, which fostered his love for music. Initially studying mathematics, Akgün discovered his passion for opera while participating in a youth choir, leading him to switch to a conservatory for vocal training. Over the years, he has performed over 20 roles on both national and international stages, and as the head of İDOB, he has been instrumental in reviving significant works and promoting the art of opera in Turkey.
