Carla Sousa

Carla Sousa is a researcher at the Unidade de Parasitologia Médica at the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical in Lisbon. She has been actively involved in monitoring the spread of the invasive mosquito species Aedes albopictus in Portugal, which is known to transmit diseases such as Zika and dengue. Recently, she emphasized the importance of public awareness and community participation in controlling mosquito populations and preventing potential outbreaks, as the presence of these mosquitoes has been increasing across various regions of the country.
