Carlo Barbante is an esteemed professor at the University of Ca' Foscari in Venice and a leading scientist in the field of climate research. He is currently the coordinator of the Beyond EPICA project, which aims to extract ancient ice samples from the Antarctic ice sheet to study the Earth's climatic history over the past 1.2 million years. Under his leadership, an international team of researchers from 12 institutions in 10 European countries has undertaken a historic drilling campaign at high altitudes, contributing valuable insights into climate change and its implications for the future.
