Carlos Chaclán Solís

Carlos Chaclán Solís is a renowned Guatemalan ceramist and artist, celebrated for his significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of Mesoamerican cultural heritage over five decades. He received the Order of the Pop 2025 from the Popol Vuh Museum for his dedication to working with clay and pre-Hispanic musical instruments. Chaclán began his artistic journey at a young age in Totonicapán, working alongside his father, and later pursued studies in traditional pottery techniques in Mexico. His work has been featured in prestigious collections worldwide, and he has also made an impact as an educator by founding a ceramics specialty at the National School of Plastic Arts in Guatemala.
