Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora

Carlos de Sigüenza y Góngora was a Mexican polymath and one of the earliest archaeologists in the Americas, known for initiating excavations at the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan in the late 17th century. His work laid foundational stones for the field of archaeology in Mexico, driven by his curiosity about the past and a desire to uncover the treasures hidden within ancient structures.
