Carlos Fonseca Amador
Carlos Fonseca Amador was a Nicaraguan revolutionary leader and one of the founders of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN). He played a pivotal role in the Nicaraguan revolution that led to the overthrow of the Somoza regime in 1979. Fonseca's early political consciousness was shaped by the events in Guatemala and the influence of Marxist-Leninist ideology, which resonated with a significant segment of the Nicaraguan youth during the 1960s. He was killed in 1976 during a confrontation with the National Guard, becoming a martyr for the Sandinista cause.
