Carlos Manuel Tavares Lopes, known artistically as Romeu di Lurdis, was a prominent Cape Verdean musician, composer, and social activist. He gained recognition for his vibrant contributions to Cabo Verdean music, with popular songs such as 'Txitxaru Fresku' and 'Ranja ku mi.' In addition to his musical career, he was involved in poetry and social activism, and he also ventured into politics, running for local office in Praia as the leader of the Party of Labor and Solidarity. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 36 in a car accident in Portugal, just days before a scheduled concert.
