Carlos Sánchez-Reyes, at 85 years old, has been a pivotal figure in the consumer rights movement in Spain, serving as the president of the Organización de Consumidores y Usuarios (OCU) for nearly three decades. Under his leadership, the OCU successfully fought against unfair practices from monopolies like Telefónica, particularly during the late 1970s when he championed the cause against covert tariff increases known as the 'pasodoble.'
