Carlos Sanmartín

Carlos Sanmartín is a Colombian middle-distance runner known for his achievements in athletics, including being a three-time South American champion and winning a silver medal at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. He gained international attention during the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where he faced physical challenges during a qualifying race but received unexpected help from Belgian athlete Tim Van de Velde, who stopped to assist him after both suffered falls.
