Carlos Siliya

Carlos Siliya is the newly elected Secretary-General of the Associação dos Combatentes da Luta de Libertação Nacional (ACLLN), having assumed office for a five-year term following his election with 103 votes. Siliya, a veteran of the armed struggle for Mozambique's liberation, has expressed a commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of former combatants and revitalizing the historical legacy of the liberation movement. He aims to address pressing issues in the 'Zona Militar' of Maputo, which has been associated with social challenges, and to enhance the recognition and support for veterans through initiatives such as revising pensions and documenting their experiences.
