Carmen Zornoza
Carmen Zornoza is a professor in the Department of Geography at the Universitat de València, known for her expertise in cartography and disaster mapping. Recently, she contributed significantly to the analysis of the catastrophic flooding caused by the dana (cold drop) in the Comunidad Valenciana, where she created the first detailed cartography of the inundation area. Her work involved using satellite imagery and community collaboration to determine the extent of the flooding, which covered 562.7 square kilometers, and she noted a strong correlation between her findings and the hydraulic simulation conducted by researcher Francisco Vallés. Zornoza's efforts were crucial in understanding the disaster's impact and improving future flood risk assessments.
