Carmine Iampietro

Carmine Iampietro, a 75-year-old from Puglia, is the president of the Italian Pensioners Association in Albania (Apia). After spending 48 years working as a motorcycle mechanic in Novara, he relocated to Durazzo with his wife, drawn by the financial benefits of living in Albania, where Italian pensions are tax-free. Since his move in 2015, he has become a key figure for Italian retirees, facilitating their transition and forming a supportive community. Iampietro advocates for the rights of pensioners, having fought successfully for easier residency permits, and emphasizes the low cost of living, safety, and warm hospitality in Albania.
