Cartimandua
Cartimandua was a prominent queen of the Brigantes tribe in northern England during the early years of the Roman conquest. She was known for her political acumen, having formed an alliance with the Romans which helped stave off invasion. Her reign, which began around AD 43, marked her as the first documented queen to rule part of the British Isles. Cartimandua's leadership was characterized by both her ability to navigate complex relationships with the Romans and her eventual divorce from her husband, Venutius, who later became a significant figure opposing Roman influence.
