Caterina d'Aragona
Caterina d'Aragona was the first wife of King Henry VIII of England and a notable figure in Tudor history. Born in 1485 in Spain, she was the daughter of Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. Her marriage to Henry VIII in 1509 marked the beginning of a tumultuous period in English history, as Henry sought to annul their marriage in order to marry Anne Boleyn. This request led to a significant religious schism, resulting in the formation of the Church of England. Caterina's steadfastness and refusal to accept the annulment contributed to her legacy as a symbol of dignity and resilience in the face of political upheaval.
