Catherine Martine Denguiadére, known as Empress Catherine, was the sixth wife of Central African Republic's self-proclaimed Emperor Jean-Bédel Bokassa. She was only 14 when she was abducted by Bokassa, who was 42 at the time, and later became the Empress following Bokassa's coronation in 1977. Despite their polygamous marriage, she was favored by Bokassa and accompanied him on official duties. After Bokassa's regime fell in 1979, she lived in exile with their children in Geneva before eventually returning to the Central African Republic. Throughout her life, Catherine has largely remained out of the public eye, living in relative seclusion.
