Cebrià Baraut i Obiols

Cebrià Baraut i Obiols was a distinguished Benedictine monk and historian born on May 27, 1917, in Cal Roca del Vilar, Cabó Valley, and passed away on June 8, 2003, at Montserrat Abbey. He is celebrated for his extensive contributions to the historical study of the Urgell bishopric and the Andorran valleys, particularly through his monumental work 'Urgellia,' which documented ecclesiastical consecrations and archival records from the 9th to the 12th centuries. As the founder and director of the 'Societat Cultural Urgellitana,' he played a pivotal role in promoting historical scholarship in the region, leaving behind a significant legacy that continues to inform the study of medieval history in Andorra.
