Charles Bassey was a celebrated Nigerian footballer known for his pivotal role as a member of Nigeria’s 1980 Africa Cup of Nations-winning team, the Green Eagles. He played an integral part in the historic victory against Algeria, which marked Nigeria’s first AFCON title. Following his retirement from professional play, Bassey transitioned into coaching, leading several clubs in Nigeria, including Calabar Rovers and Akwa United.
