
Charles George Gordon
Charles George Gordon was a British Army officer and administrator known for his leadership in the suppression of the Taiping Rebellion in China. Commanding the 'Ever Victorious Army' after Ward, Gordon's military strategies and efforts helped to restore Qing control over much of southern China, though he is also remembered for his later role in the Sudan and his tragic death at Khartoum.
