Charles Hilary was a veteran journalist and the Director of the Communication Department at the Zanzibar State House, known for his influential role in Tanzanian media for over four decades. He began his career in 1981 at Radio Tanzania and later worked with notable organizations such as Deutsche Welle and the BBC Swahili Service, where he gained regional recognition. In 2015, he returned to Tanzania to join Azam Media, enhancing local news coverage. He was appointed as Chief Government Spokesperson in 2021, focusing on improving public communication within the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar. Hilary passed away at the age of 66 after a sudden illness, leaving behind a legacy of excellence in journalism.
