Charles McGrath

Charles McGrath was a prominent Australian politician who, in 1919, narrowly lost the Victorian seat of Ballarat to Nationalist candidate Edwin Kerby by just one vote. His subsequent challenge to the election result due to alleged electoral irregularities led to a historic court case in the Court of Disputed Returns, resulting in a byelection where McGrath would eventually reclaim the seat.
