Charles Stothard
Charles Stothard was a British artist and antiquarian known for his detailed drawings and reproductions of historical artifacts. In 1816, he was commissioned to create a reproduction of the Bayeux Tapestry, leading to the appropriation of one of its fragments. His work contributed significantly to the study and appreciation of this important piece of medieval art, and the fragment he took was later returned to France in 1872.
