
Cherno M. Jallow
Cherno M. Jallow is a retired diplomat and newly appointed chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in The Gambia. He has an extensive background in international relations, having served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations in various capacities around the world, including conflict zones such as Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Jallow completed his law studies at the University of The Gambia and was called to the Bar in 2024. His appointment as IEC chairman is for a seven-year term.
