Christian Carpinelli
Christian Carpinelli is a former chief commissioner of Monaco's public security and head of the administrative police division. He gained notoriety after being charged with passive corruption and active influence peddling in late 2016 for allegedly facilitating the issuance of fictitious residency permits to Belgian nationals. Following a period of detention, Carpinelli was released in October 2017 but remains under medical supervision and prohibited from contacting certain individuals involved in the case. The upcoming trial, set for June, will assess the significant allegations against him and other co-defendants in what has become a lengthy legal saga.
