Chu Ching-en
Chu Ching-en was a former bank manager at the Taipei branch of BNP Paribas who was wrongfully convicted of forgery in 1999. Despite being acquitted in his first trial, he was found guilty in a subsequent trial and sentenced to prison, but he passed away before a final resolution could be reached. Recently, after 22 years, the High Prosecutors' Office withdrew an appeal against his acquittal, marking Taiwan's first instance of posthumous justice for a wrongfully convicted individual.
