Cyrus the Great was the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, renowned for his innovative approach to governance and his respect for the cultures and religions of the lands he conquered. His leadership style is often cited as an early example of enlightened rule, as he established a model of administration that allowed for a degree of local autonomy while maintaining overall imperial control. His legacy includes the creation of the first charter of human rights, known as the Cyrus Cylinder.
