Conn Smythe was a prominent Canadian businessman and sports executive, best known as the owner and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1927 to 1961. Smythe is also remembered for creating the Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded annually to the most valuable player of the NHL playoffs.
