Cristóbal Espinosa

Cristóbal Espinosa is a retired Colonel who served in the Ecuadorian Army during the 1995 Cenepa War. In the conflict, he was a teniente commanding a special operations patrol in the Cueva de los Tayos sector. He recalls the profound impact of losing two of his men in battle and the haunting experience of witnessing the death of a wounded enemy soldier, which led him to reflect on the humanity that can emerge even in the chaos of war.
