
Dan Mitrione
Dan Mitrione was an American police officer and CIA operative known for his controversial role in training Uruguayan police in torture techniques during the 1960s. His activities in Uruguay led to his kidnapping by the Tupamaros, a leftist guerrilla group, in 1970. Mitrione's subsequent execution by the Tupamaros highlighted the extreme tensions and violence of the era, as well as the ethical implications of U.S. involvement in foreign police training.
