Danielle Grijalva

Danielle Grijalva is the founder and executive director of the Committee for Safety of Foreign Exchange Students (CSFES), a non-profit organization established in 2004 to advocate for the rights and safety of international exchange students in the United States. After witnessing firsthand the maltreatment and neglect faced by many exchange students while working in the field, Grijalva dedicated herself to exposing the systemic issues within the J-1 visa program, highlighting the exploitation and abuse that can occur due to inadequate oversight and profit-driven motives. Through her work, she aims to ensure that exchange programs fulfill their original purpose of promoting education and cultural exchange, rather than becoming a vehicle for exploitation.
