He gained notoriety after being convicted in 2024 for organizing illegal activities, including the distribution of pornography, which led to a nine-year prison sentence along with property confiscation and fines. Recently, he made headlines when he was reported to have escaped from a correctional facility in Pervomaisky District via a helicopter, an act confirmed by local emergency services. Azhiev had been released on parole earlier in the year due to a presidential pardon.
