Dario III was the last king of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia, reigning from 336 to 330 BC. He is best known for his conflicts with Alexander the Great during the latter's campaign against Persia, particularly at the pivotal Battle of Issus in 333 BC, where he faced a significant defeat. Dario's reign was marked by attempts to stabilize and defend his vast empire against external threats, but ultimately, he was unable to withstand the military genius of Alexander, leading to the downfall of the Persian Empire.
