Darriana Burton

Darriana Burton, a 28-year-old former employee of the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office, was arrested for allegedly assisting her boyfriend, Derrick Groves, in escaping from jail. Burton, who worked at the OPSO from August 2022 to March 2023, is believed to have coordinated communications between Groves and outside individuals to facilitate his escape. She has a history of legal troubles, including a previous arrest for bringing contraband into a jail, although those charges were not pursued. Her relationship with Groves has been described as tumultuous, having been on-and-off for three years.
