Datar Singh was an influential figure in Indian agriculture who, after studying in the United Kingdom, established the first dairy farm in united India in Montgomery (Sahiwal). He was recognized for his contributions to dairy farming with the titles 'Sir' and 'Sardar Bahadur' by the British Empire. His legacy continued through his family, including his grandson who founded the Montgomery Dairy Farm in Delhi.
