Daud Aris Tanudirjo is a prominent Indonesian archaeologist and cultural preservationist, recognized for his deep commitment to the study and promotion of Indonesian history and culture. Born on July 24, 1959, in Klaten, Central Java, his passion for archaeology began in his childhood, fueled by excursions to the temples of Prambanan. He pursued his formal education in archaeology at Gadjah Mada University and later at The Australian National University, earning multiple degrees including a PhD. His work extends beyond traditional archaeological research to include the development of policies that connect historical narratives with contemporary society. In 2024, he received the Yogyakarta Cultural Award for his dedication to cultural preservation, notably his involvement in the successful nomination of the Sumbu Filosofi Yogyakarta as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2023.
