Deepu Maurya

Deepu Maurya is the elder brother of Rakesh Kumar, a 30-year-old man from Uttarkhand who was allegedly coerced into joining the Russian army after traveling to Russia for higher studies. Deepu has been vocal about his family's desperate attempts to locate Rakesh, who has been unreachable since early September 2023, following a distressing conversation in which Rakesh informed him of his forced drafting into the military. Deepu has reached out to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and local officials, pleading for assistance to bring his brother back home safely amidst growing concerns for Rakesh's well-being.
