Déni Oumar Pitsaev

Déni Oumar Pitsaev is a Chechen filmmaker born in 1986, who has lived in Grozny, Saint Petersburg, and Almaty, Kazakhstan. He studied at Sciences Po Paris before pursuing a career in cinema. His debut feature film, 'Imago', is notable for being the first Chechen film presented at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the prestigious Oeil d'or for best documentary. The film is an autobiographical documentary that explores Pitsaev's return to his roots and the complex dynamics within his family and community.
