Deodato Alves da Silva is a 72-year-old rural health worker and fruit-grower from Boa Frente, a remote village in the Amazonas state of Brazil. He faces significant challenges due to the lack of electricity in his region, which limits his ability to preserve and sell local superfoods like tucumã and cupuaçu. Despite living in an area rich in natural resources, the community suffers from energy poverty, relying on a single diesel-powered generator that operates only a few hours each night.
