Devendra Barlewar is a 47-year-old scientist in India who recently made headlines for undergoing a rare and successful third kidney transplant, resulting in his body holding five kidneys. His journey with chronic kidney disease has been challenging, beginning in 2010 with a transplant from his mother, followed by another from a relative in 2012. After complications due to COVID-19 and the failure of his second kidney, Barlewar was fortunate to receive a kidney from a deceased donor in early 2023.
