Dharío Primero, born Darío Ortiz on December 27, 1952, in Santiago de los Caballeros, was a celebrated Dominican singer known for his romantic ballads during the golden era of Dominican music. He gained significant popularity in the 1970s in New York, inspired by musical icons like Sandro, Elvis Presley, and The Beatles. Over his four-decade career, he released 15 albums and produced hit songs such as 'Mi Manera,' which topped Billboard charts in Puerto Rico. Dharío Primero was affectionately nicknamed the 'Sandro de América' and was recognized with a Casandra Award for his contributions to music. He passed away at the age of 72 in Orlando, Florida, after a courageous battle with lung cancer and heart issues, leaving behind a legacy of love for his homeland and a final composition titled 'Triste inventario.'
