Diego Rubio Ríos

Diego Rubio Ríos was a 26-year-old professional soldier from Ibagué, Colombia, who served in the Army for four years. He was assigned to the Rapid Deployment Battalion No. 7 and was tragically killed during combat with the criminal group 'los Pachencas' in rural San Martín, Cesar. His death is part of a disturbing trend in 2025, which has seen a significant rise in violence against military personnel, with 80 soldiers and police officers reported murdered in just the first five months of the year.
