Dimitris Damaskos is a professor of classical archaeology at the University of Patras, Greece. Over the past 25 years, he has dedicated thousands of hours to studying artifacts from Amphipolis and the surrounding regions of Macedonia. Since 2019, his research has transitioned to fieldwork, where he and his team, in collaboration with the Serres Antiquities Service, have made significant discoveries related to the acropolis of Amphipolis. His work focuses on uncovering the rich history of this ancient Macedonian city, which played a crucial role in major historical events, including the Peloponnesian War and the campaigns of Alexander the Great. Damaskos is passionate about revealing the daily lives of the people who lived in Amphipolis, as well as the city's importance as a cultural and economic hub in ancient times.
