Dimitris Pyromallis
Dimitris Pyromallis, born in 1958, was a passionate collector and scholar of the works of the legendary soprano Maria Callas. His deep admiration for Callas began at the tender age of four when he encountered her in Zakynthos, which inspired him to dedicate his life to curating an extensive collection that included approximately 4,000 vinyl records, 6,000 CDs, hundreds of books, newspaper clippings, and thousands of photographs and autographs. In 2023, Pyromallis generously donated his remarkable collection to the National Opera of Greece, which honored his contribution with an exhibition titled 'UNBOXING CALLAS.' His contributions to preserving Callas's legacy were recognized posthumously when he was awarded the Golden Cross of the Order of the Phoenix by the President of Greece in 2024.
