Dimitris Sarolas

Dimitris Sarolas is a lifelong resident of Byron, Athens, with roots tracing back to a family of refugees from Smyrna. Born in the 1940s, he experienced the neighborhood's evolution firsthand, from its early days as a modest settlement to its current urban landscape. A retired mathematician, Sarolas faced challenges in securing a teaching position due to political reasons, leading him to establish his own tutoring centers. His deep connection to the local history and culture is evident in his reflections on community and resilience shaped by the refugee experience.
