Dionne Brand

Dionne Brand is a Canadian poet, novelist, essayist, and editor known for her powerful explorations of identity, race, and gender in her writing. She has received numerous awards for her literary contributions, including the Governor General's Award for Poetry and the Griffin Poetry Prize. Brand's work often reflects her experiences as a Black woman in Canada, and she has been influential in advocating for marginalized voices within the literary community. Recently, she launched the Alchemy imprint at Knopf Canada, focusing on diverse narratives.
