Dmitry Ukhov was a prominent Russian jazz journalist, music producer, and critic, known for his extensive contributions to the field of jazz music and his leadership role in the Moscow Association of Jazz Journalists. Born on July 15, 1946, in Moscow, he began his career in the mid-1960s, writing as a music critic and later working on radio. Ukhov was instrumental in promoting alternative jazz and world music projects during the perestroika era and produced the 'Alternative' music festival in the 1990s. He held editorial positions at various publications, including 'Kommersant' and 'Musical Life,' and taught music history at several institutions. He passed away at the age of 79 after a prolonged illness.
