Doamna Stanca
Doamna Stanca was the wife of Mihai Viteazul, the first ruler to unite the Romanian Principalities. Born between 1550 and 1555 in Vâlcea, she married Mihai in 1584 and was known for her beauty, intelligence, and wisdom. Together, they had two children and co-founded the Mihai Vodă Monastery in Bucharest in 1594. Following Mihai's assassination in 1601, she faced hardship and eventually fell ill during a plague outbreak, passing away in December 1603. Her burial site remains undiscovered, although her legacy is honored by many.
