Dona Vitória, born Joana Zeferino da Paz, was a Brazilian retiree and activist known for her courageous stand against drug trafficking in the Ladeira dos Tabajaras favela in Rio de Janeiro. In the early 2000s, she used a camcorder to document the activities of drug dealers and corrupt police officers in her community, leading to significant criminal investigations. Her actions brought attention to the dire socio-economic conditions in the favela, and despite her passing in 2023 at the age of 97, her legacy continues to resonate, particularly with the release of the film 'Vitória,' inspired by her life.
