Doreen Nafula

Doreen Nafula, a 19-year-old Kenyan student, recently sat for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams. She represents many youths in Kenya who are largely indifferent to the risks of HIV/AIDS, as evidenced by her dismissive reaction to questions about HIV testing. Despite having received civic education on HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in school, Doreen's lack of concern highlights the ongoing challenges in raising awareness and combating complacency about the disease among young people in the country.
