Dorotea Muhr
Dorotea Muhr, widely known as Dolly Muhr, was an Argentine violinist of Austrian descent and the widow of renowned Uruguayan writer Juan Carlos Onetti. Born in Buenos Aires in 1925, she met Onetti in the 1950s, and they shared a profound partnership that lasted until his death in 1994. Throughout their relationship, she played a crucial role by transcribing his manuscripts, often at the expense of her own musical career. The couple faced political exile in 1974 during the Uruguayan dictatorship, relocating to Spain. Muhr was known for her dedication to Onetti's legacy, and even in her later years, she remained active in honoring his contributions to literature.
