Doug McConnell

Doug McConnell is a Chicago area native and co-founder of A Long Swim, who has been a passionate advocate for allowing swimming in the Chicago River for over a decade. He played a pivotal role in organizing the first official swim in the river in nearly 100 years, marking a significant milestone in the city's efforts to restore the river's health and accessibility. An accomplished long-distance swimmer, McConnell has completed notable swims such as the English Channel and the circumnavigation of Manhattan, all while raising awareness and funds for ALS.
